Internal Communications Specialist-Roseburg Forest Products

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Roseburg Culture

  • Participating as a member of the HR Team
  • Participating in communication aspects and collaboration with HR related activities, e.g., coordination with HR staff on some specific project or task
  • Presenting communications-related training to sites and departments as a specified segment of the leadership training process
  • Maintaining internal news, updates and community involvement via company intranet and reader boards
  • Participating in HR related communications and efforts relative to ongoing culture change, e.g., social media activities and use
  • Collaborating on employee survey and results communication and follow-up
  • Coordinating town halls and similar large group internal communication as requested
  • Participating in achieving the goals of the HR organization
  • Modeling company core values

Internal Communications

  • Developing and maintaining E-newsletter, including writing and coordinating articles, updates, etc.
  • Developing and maintaining Roseburg News, including writing and coordinating articles, updates, etc.
  • Editing assigned internal communications to ensure effective communication, persuasive impact, clarity of message, and professional substance and format as appropriate for each individual communication
  • Serving as liaison and point of contact with IT staff on internal communications aspects of company intranet
  • Collaborating and assisting on internal announcements relative to various company changes, staffing, etc.
  • Assisting benefits and other departments on effective internal communications, ongoing messaging and updates
  • Coordinating internal use of logo deployment
  • Collaboration and coordination with the public relations director and marketing department to ensure consistent messaging and a unified approach to communications

Community-Oriented Activities

  • Communicating and collaborating on specific internal employee activities with various community groups and activities, e.g., Roseburg Gives Back
  • Coordinating corporate giving at each plant, including gathering input on each plant’s community activities and commitments
  • Assisting with employee giving campaign, including training for site coordinators, internal communications and related activities
  • Participating in the communication process for Sons and Daughters Program
  • Assisting with internal company meetings and events as specified, e.g., Christmas luncheon

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executing corporate social media strategy and campaigns in collaboration with marketing department
  • Assisting with ongoing employee recruitment efforts
  • Serving as internal consultant for drafting internally focused communications by departments, sites, etc.
  • Engagement as requested in Executive Team discussions relative to broadening communications related technology
  • Serving as one conduit for collecting employee input on Company related activities and decisions through input and responses received via intranet and other internal communication forums
  • All other tasks, duties and activities as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Labor or the Executive Team, or PR Director relative to specific initiatives
  • Travel up to 15% 

Required Qualifications

  • Four (4) year degree in verbal or written communications related field
  • Four (4) plus years of experience in internal communications or related profession
  • Ability to independently draft written communications that are effective across a wide audience
  • Ability to actively engage in solution- and results-oriented discussions, and related communication of actions and decisions
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint/Prezi, WordPress, SharePoint, and standard social media applications (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Houzz)
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards in dealing with confidential information
  • Maintain composure in high-pressure situations
  • Excellent listening, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment
  • Graphic design ability
  • Basic photography skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Videography skills

Reports To

  • Direct reporting to Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Labor
  • Dotted line reporting to Public Relations Director

Salary 

$55,000-$65,000 DOE
